The North >
The Northern coast benefits from a pleasant climate all year around. Its beaches of fine sand are bathed by calm turquoise waters which will make your holiday. The West >
The West coast is reputed for its salt pans and its splendid sunsets. For wild life enthusiasts, visit the National park, the Black River Gorges, Chamarel and its waterfalls and the coloured earth. The west and the central part of the island offer ideal nature walks and excursions.

Worth a visit is Casela Nature Park and its 1,500 birds and various mammals which include lions that one can stroke. Tamarin Bay is a popular beach for surfing, dolphins, the Martello Tower, Ile aux Benitiers and Le Morne mountain.
 The West coast is also an ideal place for deep-sea diving, deer hunting and deep sea fishing.

The East > The East coast has an important place in the history of the island because it is in Ferney that the Dutch landed to take possession of the island in 1598. The first French colonists settled in the area of Grand Port before moving onto Port Louis.
For those who enjoy relaxation and nature, a visit to Ile aux Cerfs and the Grande Rivière Sud- Est is not to be missed, as well as the fishing village of Trou d’Eau Douce, the beaches of Belle Mare and the waterpark.

The South > The South reveals the most beautiful and wild landscapes of the island, rocks, beaches, cliffs carved by the waves and sugar cane as far as the eye can see.
Not to be missed, Ile de la Passe and its historical ruins, Ile aux Aigrettes and its natural reserve.
The “Domaine de  l’Anse Jonchee”, a magical place for nature lovers and the “Domaine de l’Ylang Ylang”, vanilla reserve of  the Mascareignes with its walks within a luxuriant greenery, giant tortoises, macaques, crocodiles and geckos.

Mahebourg village built on the bay of Grand-Port witnessed the only Napoleonic naval victory over the English. Mahebourg is also known for its naval Museum which recalls the richness of the maritime history of the island and its local market. Also to be seen is the Marine Park of Blue Bay, an exceptional coral garden.
